French Prairie Bridge Project Task Force to Meet April 12
March 20, 2018 - Project Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) members have completed their scoring on of three bridge alternatives based upon their expertise. Their scoring results can be found here. Project Task Force members will meet April 12 at 6 pm to consider these scores. If members agree, the Task Force may make deviations from the Technical Advisory Committee’s scoring. Both sets are expected to be presented to City Council in May.
The French Prairie Bridge Project aims to address the following questions:
- Where are the preferred landing points for the bridge?
- What is the preferred bridge type?
- What is the estimated cost of the preferred bridge and how might its construction be funded?
Members will reconvene in the Fall to help host a community open house on bridge types. From those meetings, two bridge options will be selected. After further consideration by the technical and community advisory committees, they will recommend a final design to City Council.
Potential Benefits. Based on previous work on the City’s Transportation and Community-wide Vision, City staff are leading this planning effort to bring several benefits, including:
- Safety
- Emergency access
- Recreational value
- Economic development
