HeARTs of Wilsonville: Many Cultures, One Heart
Proposals are due by: November 1, 2024 at 5pm
Artist Stipend: $1,350/ per heart
The City of Wilsonville in collaboration with the Arts, Culture and Heritage Commission are requesting applications from talented emerging or professional artists to submit unique and artistic design concepts to paint onto fiberglass heart sculptures that measure 52'' X 52'' X 10'' (~60 lbs). Selected artists will paint their design on the heart sculpture, which will be on display at public parks and City facilities throughout Wilsonville.
In 2017 the Wilsonville City Council adopted Resolution No. 2626 declaring the City of Wilsonville as a welcoming and inclusive city. The resolution states that Wilsonville is “an inclusive City that has and will continue to welcome the collective contributions of all persons, honoring and respecting people of every race, color, national origin, immigration or refugee status, heritage, culture.” The project theme “Wilsonville: Many Cultures, One Heart” aims to represent the distinctive artistic, cultural, and historical framework that makes Wilsonville a wonderful place. Artwork designs may also incorporate the diversity of the city to celebrate the many communities located here.
Update: Other mediums will be considered (mosaic, collage, etc.)
If selected Artists will be responsible for:
- Transportation of heart (Pick up and delivery)
- Painting their approved design on the front and back
- Sealing/clear coating with an anti-graffiti coating provided by the City

Recent Past Projects
Memorial Park Skatepark Mural - Abigail Penfold
Installed in the summer of 2024, Washington based skater and muralist completed her work. Penfold's design was inspired by the local wildlife and nature in this area. The mural takes you through the story of many creatures building a skateboard, from ospreys, beavers, squirrels and more. This project was funded through the Metro Community Enhancement Project and was completed in collaboration with the Arts, Culture, and Heritage Commission along with the Wilsonville Skatepark Association.
Temporary Pride Month Mural - By Ren Kyles
A Temporary Pride Month Mural was on display at the Parks and Recreation Admin Building located at 29600 Park Place in June 2024. The project's purpose was to provide visual representation to uplift, recognize and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and celebrate and honor Pride Month. The selection panel, consisting of members of the DEI Committee and the Arts, Culture, and Heritage Commission selected Ren Kyle's design at their April meeting. https://www.renkyles.art/
