Afterward, the Council approved the allocation of $21,000 in Community Cultural Events and Programs (CCEP) Grant awards, as recommended by the Arts, Culture, and Heritage Commission (ACHC). These grants, which aid non-profit organizations that produce programs, events and festivals for the benefit of the Wilsonville community, will be distributed to three local organizations:
- Charbonneau Arts Association: $10,000 to support the first Wilsonville Music Festival at Charbonneau this summer.
- Wilsonville Rotary: $8,000 to support the organization’s popular four-event Summer Concert Series.
- Wilsonville STAGE: $3,000 to support “pop-up performances” that bring live theater events to Wilsonville.
To advance the Boeckman Creek Flow Mitigation Project, the Council authorized the acquisition of property and property interests that accommodate the City’s removal a culvert and flow control structure, as well as infrastructure work to mitigate the flow differential and restore runoff route to the Coffee Lake basin.
Following a public hearing, the Council adopted ordinances on first reading that annex and rezone nine acres within the Frog Pond West neighborhood to enable development of the 28-lot Frog Pond Ridgecrest residential subdivision.
During Mayor's Business, the City Council selected Councilor Caroline Berry to serve as Council President.
During Legal Business, City Attorney Amanda Guile-Hinman noted a Jan. 2 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals, which affirmed without opinion a decision by Oregon’s Land Use Board of Appeals to uphold the City Council’s determination in a dispute over the type of nonconforming use allowed at the Fry’s property.
Because of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, the next meeting of the City Council takes place on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 7 pm. The meeting is preceded by a 5 pm work session.
