Wellness Fair, Community Block Party Highlight Event Season

Crowd assembled at water feature during Block Party

July 3, 2019 — The City of Wilsonville is hosting several family-friendly community events this summer, including the City’s annual Community Block Party. These free events are designed to bring friends and families together to celebrate summer at two of Wilsonville’s best gathering places – Memorial Park and Town Center Park.

The Wilsonville Wellness Fair takes place at Town Center Park from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday, July 20. The Wellness Fair includes live performances, demonstrations and giveaways, and provides guests an opportunity to talk with representatives from more than 40 local businesses specializing in healthy bodies, minds and spirits.  Representatives of Legacy Trauma Nurses and Oregon Trial Lawyers Association are giving out free bike helmets and  SMART Transit is hosting a bike rodeo in the City Hall parking lot.

The Friday night Movies in the Park series held at Memorial Park includes four features suitable for the entire family. The lawn opens at 8:15 pm, and the movies begin at dusk on an inflatable screen at the River Shelter.  Community members are invited to bring their short lawn-chairs, blankets and picnic snacks for watching the show. This year’s schedule:

  • July 19: How to Train Your Dragon: Hidden World
  • July 26: Small Foot
  • Aug. 9: A Wrinkle in Time
  • Aug. 23: Mary Poppins Returns

The third annual Community Block Party features a live concert performance from country artist Britnee Kellogg on Thursday, Aug. 15, 5-8 pm at Town Center Park. Guests can enjoy free burgers and hot dogs (while supplies last), as well as train rides, a 3-D chalk art installation, a photo booth and other interactive activities, including the first Family Friendly Bike Ride, a 20-minute neighborhood ride that departs  from the Town Center Park fountains at 6 pm.

These City-hosted activities represent just a few of the many community events in store for Wilsonville residents and visitors this summer, including the Wilsonville Rotary concert series (begins July 18), Fun in the Park (Aug. 3), Wilsonville Brewfest (Aug. 10) and others throughout the summer.

A list of community events can be found in the Boones Ferry Messenger, on the City’s website at ci.wilsonville.or.us/calendar.  A summer events poster, included in the June issue of The Boones Ferry Messenger, is available at City Hall.
