Community Center Set to Re-Open Doors to Public

Community Center

July 8, 2021 — The Wilsonville Community Center, closed to the public since March 2020 because of COVID-19, is getting set to re-open its doors. Next week, in-person social services are resuming. In August, the building is re-opening for community use and many drop-in activities.

Effective this Monday, July 12, patrons may meet on-site with the Community Center’s Social Worker, Sadie Wallenberg (503-570-1526). The medical equipment loan program also resumes July 12 by appointment with Wallenberg.

On Monday, Aug. 2, the Community Center resumes normal business hours, Monday thru Friday, 8 am–5 pm. August also marks the return of many drop-in activities, including card games, Bingo and Photography Club. The Stretch, Strength and Stamina program resumes on Aug. 16.

“We are overjoyed to welcome our community back into the building soon,” Programs Manager Brian Stevenson said. “Many of our patrons have lived mostly in isolation for more than a year, and we’re eager to re-connect with them and to resume programs for their benefit.”

Formal classes are scheduled to return in September, including Healthy Bones and Balance, Yoga and others.  Details will be available soon.

At this time, the Community Center’s in-person (“Congregate”) lunch program remains unavailable until further notice. Staff, in collaboration with Clackamas County Social Services, is working to reinstate the lunch program as soon as possible. Until that time, the Center is continuing to serve patrons through the expended Home Delivered Meals program.

The Community Center serves Wilsonville with programs and events year-round. For more information, please call 503-682-3727.
