City Seeks Volunteer Candidates to Serve on Library, Tourism Boards
May 9, 2019 - The City of Wilsonville is seeking candidates for four positions on City boards and commissions. Terms begin in July for the positions, appointed by Mayor Tim Knapp and confirmed by the Wilsonville City Council.
Volunteers selected to serve on City committees aide local government’s ability to serve residents, businesses and visitors.
“We are looking for community members who desire leadership roles and who are passionate about retaining the high quality of life we currently enjoy in Wilsonville,” Knapp said.
One four-year position on the Library Board is being appointed. The Library Board assists the Library Director in planning activities, and advises the City of budgetary and policy considerations relating to the Library’s operation and development. Board members monitor the quality of library operations, encourage cost effectiveness in all areas of library services and periodically review policies and procedures. The Board meets monthly, typically on the fourth Wednesday of the month, at 6:30 pm.
Two people are being appointed to serve three-year terms on the Tourism Promotion Committee; a third person is being appointed to serve a two-year term. The 12-member committee is composed of seven voting members who represent the greater Wilsonville-area hospitality and tourism industry and five non-voting members who provide advice and consultation to the committee. The Committee is charged with implementing the Wilsonville Tourism Development Strategy and overseeing City-County tourism-development grant programs. Direct connection with the hospitality and tourism industry is required; applicants need not work or live in Wilsonville.
The deadline for community members seeking to apply, including current members seeking reappointment, is Friday, May 31, at 5 pm. Applications are available on the City’s website.
