City Seeks Civic-Minded Community Members to Participate in Citizens Academy

Members of the 2018 Citizens Academy

September 18, 2018 — The City of Wilsonville is now recruiting community members to participate in the 2019 Wilsonville Citizens Academy. The six-month public-engagement program, which starts in January, features monthly City-hosted meetings and events designed to prepare community members for public service on City boards and commissions or other roles with local government and/or non-profit agencies.

“This program is a great way for residents and area employees to become more familiar with the City and to explore the many volunteer opportunities where people are making a difference in Wilsonville,” said Mayor Tim Knapp.

The Citizens Academy offers participants a chance to learn about City programs and operations directly from City staff and elected officials, and to work with other civic-minded community members. The Citizens Academy meets on the third Thursday of each month, 6–9 pm, at City Hall.

This free program is limited to 25 participants annually. Applications are being accepted through October 31; they are available at the City’s website: ci.Wilsonville.or.us/Academy.
