City Announces 2018 Budget Committee Meetings

The City of Wilsonville Budget Committee plans to meet on a number of occasions in 2018 to review City financial information and review and approve a budget for Council adoption. All meetings are to be held at Wilsonville City Hall, 29799 SW Town Center Loop East.

The Budget Committee is holding two meetings prior to conducting a public hearing to hear from City staff on a number of issues that may impact the City budget now and in the future:

Thursday, Feb. 15, 6 pm: The Budget Committee is scheduled to hear a presentation by Carol Samuels, a Managing Director at Piper Jaffray, a leading investment bank and asset-management firm.  As an associate member of the Oregon Government Finance Officers Association, Ms. Samuels has become a local expert on the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) and gives many presentations around the region to various local governments about PERS; she will explain how PERS sets its rates and answer any questions the committee members may have.
Thursday, Mar. 8, 6 pm: The Budget Committee is scheduled to review the City’s financial status for the current fiscal year

In late spring, the Budget Committee is scheduled to review and hold a public hearing on the City Manager’s recommended budget:

Wednesday, May 30, 6-9 pm: The Budget Committee convenes for the initial meeting to review the City’s Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2018-19.  The Committee is scheduled to take public testimony and consider various aspects of the City’s annual budget.
Wednesday, June 6, 6-9 pm: The second Budget Committee meeting to review the City’s annual budget. At this meeting, the budget of the City’s Urban Renewal Agency will also be considered. The public has the opportunity to address the Committee, either regarding the City’s budget or that of the Urban Renewal Agency. The Budget Committee may approve at this meeting a recommended budget for City Council adoption, which is scheduled for June 18.
Thursday, June 7, 6-9 pm (tentative): A third Budget Committee meeting is tentatively scheduled to review the City’s annual budget for FY 2018-19. Often, the Budget Committee completes the review and approval process in two meetings; a third date is set should the committee need additional time for budget review and approval for City Council consideration.

Once approved by the Budget Committee, the budget is forwarded to the City Council for a public hearing and potential adoption on June 18, 7 p.m.
