On Sept. 21, 2015, the Wilsonville City Council approved the City Manager to enter into a construction contract for the Canyon Creek Road Pedestrian Enhancement Project that constructs four new pedestrian street crossings along a 1.2-mile-long section of Canyon Creek Road between SW Elligsen Road and SW Boeckman Road currently without crosswalks. The new pedestrian street crossings are to be constructed at Burns Way, Canyon Creek Apartments driveway, Printer Parkway/Murray Street and Boeckman Road. The enhanced pedestrian crossings include installation of warning devices, such as marked crosswalks, flashing beacons, refuge islands and signage, that improve the safety of pedestrians crossing Canyon Creek Road. Of the six bids the City received, GT General Contracting submitted the lowest, responsive bid. Work on the three-month-long project is expected to begin in October and is planned to be completed by the end of the year.
The City Council voted to continue the public hearing on Ordinance No. 776 to the City Council meeting on Monday, Nov. 2. If approved, the ordinance amends the City’s rules regarding issuing franchises and charging franchise fees. Under Mayor’s Business, the Council approved of the City supporting a Department of Land Conservation and Development Technical Assistance Grant Application to be submitted by Washington County to further implementation of the future Coffee Creek and Basalt Creek industrial areas..
At work session prior to the City Council meeting, the Council heard reports and discussed future storm water and transportation projects.
