On May 18, 2015, the Wilsonville City Council held a second reading and gave final approval of a Zone Map amendment as recommended by the Development Review Board (DRB) Panel A on April 13 for a 3.58-acre parcel near the center of the Villebois neighborhood for use as a neighborhood park, referred to as Montague Park, and for development of adjacent streets.
The City Council also approved the appointment of Rich Dougall to the Library Board for a four-year term to begin on July 1, 2015. Mr. Dougall and his family are avid readers and a he is a strong supporter of the library. The appointment replaces long-term Library Board member Hilly Alexander whose term is expiring at the end of June and has served the maximum of two consecutive four-year terms.
The Council agreed to continue, until June 1, the first reading and public hearing on updates to the City’s erosion control requirements.
Under the Consent Agenda the City Council approved the City Manager to enter into two contracts. One contract is to hire a contractor to construct three landscaping medians on SW Wilsonville Road between the High School and Boeckman Road to be completed by late July. The other contract is to hire an engineering and forestry consultant to design three stormwater outfall repair projects in the Rivergreen and Morey’s landing neighborhoods.
During the Citizen Input portion of the meeting a group of approximately thirty community members shared input on the draft Frog Pond Concept plan and a summary of public comments that are available online at www.ci.wilsonville.or.us/FrogPond. The majority of commenters at the meeting expressed a preference for the plan to offer residences with large single-family lots. In meetings planned for June, both the Planning Commission on Wednesday, June 10, and the City Council on Monday, June 15, are scheduled to hear reports on survey results as well as review new plan options and ideas, infrastructure costs/funding and development feasibility for the draft concept plan. Later in the summer, City Council will discuss and potentially adopt the Frog Pond Area Concept Plan, but a specific meeting date is not known at this time.
The Mayor issued a Public Works Week proclamation for May 17 – 23 in order to recognize the important role public-works infrastructure, facilities and services play in maintaining the community’s high-standard of living in Wilsonville.
During work session prior to the City Council meeting, the Council heard other reports and updates on the Memorial Park Master Plan, changes to the Erosion Control Ordinance and the proposed structure for the Tourism Promotion Committee.
