On Monday, March 30, contractors working on behalf of the City of Wilsonville began work to install new playground equipment at Murase Plaza in Memorial Park. The new playground equipment includes two large-themed structures and a 12-foot-long embankment slide that are safe for all age groups. The new structures are designed to be inclusive for use by persons with physical and developmental disabilities. The new equipment replaces a number of the existing elements at the playground including the large metal slide and the red dome that are in poor condition and pose safety concerns.
The new play structures, approved for acquisition by the City Council on December 1, 2014, have a barn and cattle ranch theme that compliments the nearby Stein-Boozier Barn. The equipment, manufactured by Portland-based Columbia-Cascade, features post-consumer recycled plastic support posts and stainless steel fixtures. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of April.
